A Day of rest and going to the Hundertwasser by Joanna
Rising early, we decided to meet Beverley at the loop track at 8.30 for the hour walk around Whangarei. then Bruce and I went for Brunch at the Hundertwasser, and ate spring lamb's liver and bacon on wilted spinach with a poached egg. With coffee.
After this we wandered around the gallery, bemused by the 1970's movie of a man in a boat wearing a hat. Only a hat. In the movie he was painting a picture that was indicative of the era. The gallery had more and more of these types of pictures; he was clearly quite a character. Read more about him here. Below are some of the photos. He was interested in designing architecture to complement and mimic nature; his designs were entertaining if not particularly practical.
Elaine - Shona's neighbour (Jenny's mum is Shona) came over to play scrabble. She is 96. Actually she can't remember the year she was born, but that is our best guess.
